Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can you explain your process for Custom Training Solutions?

Our Custom Training Solutions combine needs assessment, tailored curriculum development, lesson planning, training content and materials design, and/or training facilitation to meet your organization's specific needs. First, we meet with you in a free 30-minute consultation to perform an intake assessment. If we can meet your needs, we will follow-up within one week (usually less, depending on the complexity of the project) with a draft project proposal for your review and revision. After collaborating to create an agreeable Scope of Work and price arrangement, we will sign an agreement for whatever deliverables and duration you require. We work alongside you through this entire process, addressing any concerns and answering any questions you may have.

How much do your services cost? And how can we pay?

Custom Training Solutions vary in price based on a number of different factors: scope of work, potential travel time and training materials required, number of preparation and active facilitation hours, whether or not you need us to contract with a professional language interpreter, etc. A rough guideline is that Custom Training Solutions cost around $300 per hour of active facilitation time, especially for online trainings. Our Preplanned Trainings (Motivational Interviewing and Professional Development Trainings) are priced at a flat rate of $250 per hour of active facilitation time. This means that a virtual 2-hour training sessions for 10 or 50 or any other number of staff at your organization (up to 100) would cost $500. If you are looking for smaller group or individual trainings, we recommend you schedule a free consultation. We accept payment by credit card through our website, or by cash/check for Custom Training Solutions. Our prices are subject to change at any time. For more information, please read the Terms and Conditions listed on our website.

Do you offer trainings for individuals?

We are planning to release prescheduled trainings that are priced per individual attendee in the near future. In the meantime, if you have an individual training need, please schedule a free consultation—we can likely still assist you!

Do you offer services outside of New Mexico?

A part of our mission is to be culturally responsive, which is something we can best accomplish when we serve partners locally. That is why we serve inside New Mexico and its bordering communities. If you stumble upon us from outside of New Mexico or its bordering communities, though, we would still love to get to know you and potentially point you to a resource that can meet your needs. We also may be able to offer limited virtual services to those outside of New Mexico—if you are interested in this, please schedule a free consultation or use our contact page to reach out to us.

Are your trainings available virtually or in person?

Both! A benefit of serving locally in New Mexico and its bordering communities is that we can likely travel to your location to offer in-person training facilitation. For Custom Training Solutions, we will work together during the consultation process to figure out if virtual, in-person, or hybrid facilitation best meets your needs and budget. Our Preplanned Trainings (Motivational Interviewing and Professional Development Trainings) are available in-person without any additional fee within 90 minutes of the Albuquerque area. If you are farther away and would like one of our Preplanned Trainings to be delivered in person, we recommend you schedule a consultation or use our contact form so we can give you an accurate quote. We're not trying to take advantage, just cover gas costs. Our Preplanned Trainings are always available to anyone in New Mexico or bordering communities virtually without any additional travel fee.

Do you offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for your trainings?

CEUs for New Mexico Community Health Workers (CHWs) are available provided we are given ample advance notice prior to the training date (at least 60 days) per the State's CEU application process combined with our development timeline. We are currently investigating CEUs from other providers, such as APA and NASW, and will update all our service offerings if/when we are able to provide these CEUs. We are aiming to be able to do so Spring of 2026.

Do you offer services in languages other than English?

For Custom Training Solutions, we may be able to coordinate for live simultaneous language interpretation and slide translation with a certified local partner. Please note that this will typically raises price per hour of facilitation and/or number of slides translated. Our Preplanned Trainings are currently only available in English, but we welcome you to take advantage of live translation or AI language services if needed.

Can we book Ocotillo for events or conferences?

Absolutely—and potentially for a discounted rate! If you are interested in scheduling us for an event or conference, please schedule a free consultation.

What is your policy on Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

This is a controversial topic with a nuanced answer, as is the case with most controversial topics. We believe in responsible use of AI, which means asking ourselves. "is this good for learning in our community?" whenever we consider using computer-generated content. That means you won't find AI generated curriculum or training when working with Ocotillo; the human touch is, and always will be, what creates authentic learning experiences. Now, within that paradigm, AI is still here, and there are shades of gray. We do believe that some of the images generated by AI are better for learning than the same-old stock image we've all seen a million times (seeing another person dressed in a business suit doesn't really do much for learning or creative or critical thinking). Even here, there are shades of gray. Ideally, we envision a future where we could employ local artists to create unique works for all of our trainings. We want to be a part of creating that world—one where artwork and education alike are valued more for their inherent worth. Until then, we believe that responsibly leveraging AI—it's here, after all—and walking that line is a part of what gets us there. As with all of our work, we are always open to reassessing our stance as we learn more.
